Surita grew up etching and painting in her spare time, as she dreamed of becoming an artist one day.  Upon graduating from U.C. Santa Cruz, she was encouraged to pursue a professional career.  After a few unsatisfying years in the corporate world, she found her happiness by building the life she had always envisioned.  In 2001, she chose the name Enamorata, meaning to inspire with love, and began her business.

Surita aspired to build a company where she could express her creativity, promote art, and utilize her education by giving back to society.
More than just ornamentation, jewelry tells us the story behind a person's culture, personality, and history.  Through this understanding of jewelry as wearable art, she chose her medium.  The influence of numerous trips to India to learn about her ancestral background, combined with a love of nature, nurtured by a lifetime of hiking and camping as she explored the lush natural beauty of Northern California and beyond, can be seen in every aspect of her work.  The essence of her being is illustrated in every piece: intricate, hand forged, gleaming high karat gold, meticulously paired with a brightly hued selection of exquisite gemstones.  Surita's fascination with gemology is highlighted as she showcases a stone's natural range by painstakingly graduating the strand from one end of the color spectrum to the other.  Her love of art manifests itself through her sophisticated palette and attention to detail.
Born and raised in the Bay Area to parents of East Indian descent, Surita understands that our cultural heritage combined with our unique experiences make us distinct.  As individuals we spend years discovering our own paths through life.  In recognition of every woman’s journey, Surita creates unique jewelry, each piece as individual as the wearer.  Her passion lies in creating wearable gems which reflect her distinct style, while fusing her own sense of modern wearability with the centuries old techniques of traditional Indian jewelry.
Surita cultivates jewelry from her soul and her heart.  It is her hope that it serves as a window to the beauty and strength within. Surita can be found blissfully creating her jewelry and painting in her studio in Half Moon Bay, California.
